At the conference, Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Hong Thach shared some information about the impressive growth of Vietnam's tourism. In 2019, Vietnam welcomed a record 18 million international visitors (up 16.2% compared to 2018) and served 85 million domestic visitors, contributing 9.2% of GDP ($32.8 billion). In 2020, Vietnam's tourism will face many difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic and global travel restrictions. Also according to Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach, the need for cooperation in tourism between Vietnam and Ukraine is huge. Many Ukrainian friends wish to visit Vietnam and vice versa. However, there are still some limitations that need to be overcome, such as the need for a direct flight between Vietnam and Ukraine and a visa-free mechanism for tourists of the two countries to reduce costs.
