 – Recently, Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha announced that he will open the door to welcome international visitors who have fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to come to this country without quarantine or isolation. Implementation is expected to begin in mid-October 2021.

This announcement is considered an encouraging decision after a year of applying travel restrictions to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic. Thailand will take measures to relax restrictions on the outside, amid the pandemic is still complicated in the region.


Currently, foreign visitors to Thailand are required to quarantine for at least 7 days. However, Thailand has introduced many suitable forms of isolation for visitors to choose the form of comfort for the operator.


From July 1, Thailand will apply the "Phuket Sandbox" tourism model to allow a trial to welcome foreign tourists who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter Phuket island without any restrictions. required mandatory isolation. However, visitors will have to stay in Phuket for at least 14 days before they can enter other parts of the country.


This tourism model is expected to be implemented on the basis that the Thai Government has vaccinated more than 70% of the inhabitants of Phuket Island, this is the rate necessary to create herd immunity. Currently, only about 7% of Thailand's 69 million population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.


If successful with the sandbox model, the number of international visitors to Thailand will be more stable in the coming November and December peak seasons.


Thailand has repeatedly announced that it is open to international visitors, but then it has to be delayed or cannot be done due to the complicated disease situation in the country.
